Nick Thompson has been with Thompson Homes since 2007. He first served as the Vice President of Operations until being named President in 2012. Home building is in Nick’s blood, as he is now the third generation- following in his grandfather and father’s footsteps. As a child, he spent many Sundays at the office with his dad, and high school summer days working with the framing and concrete crews. Born and raised in Owensboro, KY, Nick attended Daviess County High School and graduated in 1997. He then went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Business Management at the University of Kentucky where he met his wife, Jenifer. Nick spent the next 4 years with Centex working in their Land Development and Construction departments before moving home with his wife to join the family business.
At the forefront of the company, Nick is passionate about the fundamentals of homebuilding and oversees strategic initiatives, which include designing new products, defining the corporate brand, exploring new markets and creating a strong and meaningful company culture. With an emphasis on agile decision making, Nick is continuing to strengthen the talented team designed to deliver unparalleled quality and a memorable customer experience.
Currently, Nick remains very active in the local community. He served as President of the Owensboro Homebuilders Association in 2012 and is currently a Board Member. He also serves as an Area Vice President for the Home Builders Association of Kentucky and is an active Board Member of Junior Achievement of Western Kentucky. Nick and Jenifer have a daughter, Kennedy Marie. In 2013 they proudly served as the local ambassador family for the March of Dimes. As a family they love to travel, lead a healthy, active lifestyle, and cheer on their beloved Kentucky Wildcats!
I received my BS in Accounting from Brescia University. I spent the first 8 years of my career as an auditor in governmental and public accounting. While working in public accounting I obtained my Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. I then spent 2 years working for Mulzer Crushed Stone, Inc., a CRH Company, that is a part of one of the largest building material companies in the world. My specialties lie in financial reporting and data analytics.
I am the father of 3 girls (all born within 4 years of each other.) I enjoy spending time outdoors with them. I also appreciate golfing, fishing, and reading in my spare time. I hope one day I can get back to travelling and take my family to see the world. I love Kentucky, and I love UK sports team. I am an avid baseball fan and watch as frequently as time allows.

His favorite aspects of home construction are the personal interactions with his clients and providing them with a quality home.

I am a recent transplant from the Bloomington Area where I worked as a trim carpenter for the past 8 years. I developed my skills under some of the finest in the area and quickly took to the trade. While running a small company I honed my leadership and communication skills and was able to learn the intricacies of the finish side of residential construction.
Prior to that I served in the United States Army where I was a medic with a light infantry unit. I proudly served for seven years including multiple combat deployments to Afghanistan where I earned numerous awards and accolated before a leg injury cut short my military career. I also served my town as a police officer for about 3 years prior to my relocation.
I will serve Thompson Homes best by using my positive attitude and excellent communication skills to ensure construction goes according to plan. By organizing subcontractors, material deliveries and our overall construction calendar I hope to help streamline the building process and ensure customers are happy and well informed throughout the building process.
I am most proud of my three children. Being a father is the most rewarding job of all. They keep me busy in my off time with baseball, softball, swimming camping and fishing. I also enjoy writing songs and playing my guitar in my down time.
